Fly Tipping:   You can help prevent fly-tipping by ensuring your waste is removed by a licensed waste carrier.  You can find this out by calling the Environment Agency for free on 08708 506506,  If a collection service seems too cheap, it may be too good to be true and you may find your rubbish dumped unlawfully.  If this is the case, you could be liable for a fine or prosecution.
If you have any information on report of fly-tipping, please call 01732 227000 or email

Bulk Disposal:   If you need to dispose of a fridge, freezer, furniture, a bed or another large item, SDC may be able to help you.   There is a fortnightly large item collection service which disposes of a range of large household items.   Collection of white goods costs £17 per appliance with large double door American-style fridge-freezers charged at £40 each.
Other waste generally costs £17 for the first item, £28 for two items, £38 for up to four items and £50 for up to 10 items.
For a no obligation quote, and to book a collection, please call Sevenoaks District COuncil on 01732 227000

Sevenoaks Men in Sheds:  If you have shedloads of time or you want to share or learn new skills, you may want to join the District's first ever men's shed.   The Sevenoaks Shed meets every Tuesday at 10am at the Abacus Furniture Warehouse, Greatness Lane, Sevenoaks TN14 5BQ.   To get involved, or to donate materials or tools, please contact SDC on 01732 227000 or email

Housing Survey:  You could win a £100 shopping voucher by completing a survey about your housing needs so SDC can ensure hew housing is of the right type, size and tenure and in the right location.   The survey should be delivered to your home in early November and will be carried out by a specialist independent market research company called arc4.   This is a postal (freepost envelope will be provided) and on line survey so the company will not knock on your door and the information will not be shared with any other organisation.
Promoting Independence:  Grants worth up to £30,000 (certain criteria apply) are available for property adaptations and improvements to help disabled people, both young and old, to continue to live independent lives in their own homes.   Funding is available for homeowners and those who rent privately or through a housing association.   Call SDC on 01732 227000 or email
